FAQ

Questions, answered.

Everything cat owners usually ask before starting a catio project.

What is a catio?

A catio is a custom-built outdoor enclosure that gives cats safe access to fresh air, sunshine, and bird-watching — without the risks of free-roaming. Keeping cats contained also protects local birds and wildlife.

What areas do you serve?

NM Catio Service builds catios across the Albuquerque metro and surrounding areas in New Mexico.

Is the consultation really free?

Yes. Every project starts with a complimentary in-home consultation where we meet you and your cats, review potential catio locations, and look at material samples together.

How much does a catio cost?

Every catio is custom-designed for the specific home and cats, so pricing depends on size, location, and materials. After the site visit you'll receive a detailed cost estimate — along with a 3D design of your catio — within about 7 days.

Can I see the design before you build it?

Yes — that's the core of our process. Every catio is modeled in 3D in your actual space before construction begins, so you see exactly what you're getting and problems get caught on screen instead of in your yard.

How does payment work?

A 50% deposit is due when you sign the purchase order. The remaining balance is due the day the build is complete.

Do I need HOA approval?

If you belong to an HOA, approval needs to be obtained before the consultation. Reach out and we can talk through what your HOA typically needs to see.

Will a catio hold up to New Mexico weather?

Yes. Builds use UV-stable mesh, sealed wood, and drainage planning — designed specifically for New Mexico sun and weather conditions.

Who does the actual work?

Max Schwaber — owner and builder — handles every project personally, start to finish, one project at a time. No subcontractors.
